I have not heard Vision Shack 10 yet as something peculiar happened technically in copying it to upload, but I will hear it on or after Saturday.
In writing to my brother just now, who is writing a paper on political philosophy for a group of Greek Academics who meet in the Pelopponese to have a philosophical lark (I think summer hols) it occurred to me that a question he proposed before getting seriously into writing his paper on The Polis, Aristotle's ideal of the best for the most people, roughly speaking for us amateurs - "When will the Polis begin". We are in accord, maybe because as children we saw through the illusion that politics presents because we were able to observe the fight to liberate Cyprus from both ends simultaneously - our cousins fighting for their self-determination were the colonial power's "terrorists", or what Dubya calls "Tourists" - I love that one - if only the poor thicko knew....
Writing to him now about my "human being work" (yes, Frank Jay changed it nicely) I see, being involved with real community - not the political smokescreens coming out of parliament and "city hall" right now with sickening waste of human resources just to hide the cracks in what we laughingly used to call democracy, for want of another term, really - no the grass roots stuff, this is, as I observed, the Demos (the people) doing it for themselves in a sense without either political philosophers, ideologies or political systems, Polis, whatever. Not to denigrate human thought and discipline in thought, but to say human being work is in daily perceiving what needs to be processed, thought, presented, enacted, fashioned, finessed, established, lived and incorporated in this moment for this day now.
So I think history will prove, is doing so now, that the political ideal could never have worked except as an imperfect staging post on the way to human self-actualisation.
Right, let's see in a couple of days if the program was as good as I hope it was.
